Fishing has been very good up until the cold weather hit.  The water temperature has dropped to the mid to lower 50’s.

The bite has slowed down.  Live bait is the only way to go now.  And 5 – 8 inch wild shiners are the best.

I’m fishing in 15 to 20 feet of water and I’m rigging the poles with 10# big game green line and using medium action spinning rods with Okuma live bait feeder reels.

The bass are biting very light and slowly move away with the shiner.  You have to watch the line closely to detect the bite.  You need to fish slow.

We are catching some fish on artificial lures, such as Black and Blue Flake Sinkos.  I prefer Gary Yamato Sinkos, rigged Texas style or Carolina style.

Some people like Whackey rigged.

Use light line with a small weight and fish slow.

The bite will be a little tick, watch your line, and hydrilla is the best areas to find fish but open water still works.

Soon, the fish will start to get closer to the outer weed lines in shallow water but the water needs to warm up.

Spawning season will be next.

Hold a tight line!
