Lake Walk-In-Water

Also known as Lake Weohyakapka, this 7,528-acre IN Lake Wales in Polk County.

Weohyakapka means “walking on water” in the Muscogee language.

Predominant vegetation is cattail, bulrush (buggy whips), Kissimmee grass, and hydrilla.

Maximum depth is 12 feet. Nationally known for largemouth bass fishing,

Lake Walk-in-Water provides both large numbers and trophy-sized fish.

Drifting live shiners over offshore hydrilla is the most consistent technique, but many bass are caught on artificials as well, particularly topwater lures.

There are seven brush-type fish attractors marked with buoys scattered around the lake, and they are holding baitfish and some quality fish.

Lake Walk-in-Water is known for its trophy-sized largemouth bass and many anglers flock this lake hoping that they could catch theirs. This fish is an aggressive feeder, which is why baitcasting is the best fishing method to try if you want to get a bite. You can use a variety of baits, such as shiners, minnows, shads, mice, frogs, and insects.
